Background Information
CASAS tests for ABE/GED/ESL students in Washington have been a requirement of the state and federal government since Fall 2003. All new students must take CASAS pre-tests (reading and math for ABE/GED, and listening and reading for ESL) early in the quarter, ideally within the first 12 hours of instruction.
At the end of the quarter, all students who have accumulated a minimum of 45 hours of instruction since their last test must take CASAS post-tests. For details about testing procedures, consult the CASAS Administration Manual or contact a member of the CASAS training cadre.
